For machine which has 4 mb of RAM, the following momery usage is consider optimum.

・ Handy Mail Listserver Quick Setup
- Start Handy Mail software by double click on the メHandy Mail 1.0b2モ icon.
- Listserver: fill in all the fields in this section. If you need more detail about each field, click on the help メ?モ.

(Picture above illustrate the default settings of listserver. You will need to change the メDomainモ and メAdminモ fields.)
- Make sure the メEnable Listserverモ option is Checked. This is to activate the listserver.
- Handy Mail keeps at least 1 list in its database. If you need only 1 mailing list in this server, you should change the list instead of delete it and create a new one.

- Click on the メList Setup...モ button.
- You will be presented with the following List Setup window:

- List Name: this is the name you are going to use for the list.
- FC Conference Name: If you are gatewaying Handy Mail to FirstClass server, this is the Conference folder name in FirstClass for Handy Mail to send all the mails in this List to.
(Note: You have to create a Conference folder with the same name in
FirstClass server manualy)
- Mail Header: the mailing list default mail header. This header will be used in every outgoing mail that sent to the subscribers under this list. Eg. You can change the line:
To: Multiple recipients of list hdmail <hdmail@[Domain]>
to become:
To: All subscribers of hdmail <hdmail@[Domain]>
Note that this change will only affects the List that you are working on.
- Tagline: a text tag line to append to all outgoing mails under this List.
- Subscribe info: text in this field will be sent to the new subscriber after he/she has subscribed to this list. It can be a List guide or a brief greeting text.
- Enable List: this is to mark the availability of the List.
- Route to FirstClass: if you are getewaying Handy Mail to FirstClass Server, turning this option on will allows Handy Mail to route all the mails in this List to FirstClass.
- Click メDoneモ to close メList Setupモ window.
・ UUCP Setup
- If you have already using メUUPC 3.1モ, make sure:
1. The メUUPC 3.1モ software is in the メmail centerモ folder
(also called メuucpモ folder on your hard disk). This folder keeps
all the incoming and outgoing mails. It should be quite easy to
identify where it contains at least the following 3 folders:
メConfigモ, メSpoolモ and メMailモ.
2. The メUUPC Settingsモ file is also in the メmail centerモ folder.
- If you are not familiar with メUUPC 3.1モ, and setting up an uucp dialup for the first time, drop the メUUPC 3.1モ software into the メUUCPモ folder in Handy Mail folder.
(Note: You can obtain a copy of メUUPC 3.1モ from major FTP sites or
SoftArc Online at Usefull Software folder)
- In Handy Mail main window, click the メUUCP Setup...モ button.
- You will be presented with a メUUCP Setupモ window.
- Click at the help メ?モ at the upper right corner and follow the instructions to complete you setup.
・ FirstClass Gateway Setup
(Note: If you are not gatewaying Handy Mail to FirstClass server, you can skip this section.)
Setting up Handy Mail FirstClass gateway involved 3 parts.
1. Handy Mail FirstClass gateway settings.
2. Edit the Gateway Settings file by using FirstClass Client software.
3. Create Gateway file in FirstClass server.
1. Handy Mail FirstClass gateway settings.
- In Handy Mail, make sure the "Enable Gateway" option is Checked.
- Click on the "Gateway Setup..." button.
- From the window presented:
1. Gateway name: The name of Gateway. We recommend using "Internet".
This name has to be same as Gateway file in FirstClass server.
2. Administrator name: The FirstClass Administrator name. Handy Mail
will send messages to this name if errors occur.
- Click on help "?" if you want to learn more about other options.
2. Edit the Gateway Settings file by using FirstClass Client software.
- Gateway Settings file is just like any FirstClass Client settings file.
- In Handy Mail folder, locate the folder of "FirstClassィ Gateway" and open it.
- Look for the file named "Gateway Shell Settings" and double click to open it.
(Note: Make sure you have FirstClass Client software on your hard disk).
- The FirstClass Client software will be launched.
- From the window below, click on メSettingsモ button.

- A メGateway Shell Settingsモ window will be presented as the following:

- The メUser IDモ is a fixed ID number that used by Handy Mail internally. DO NOT CHANGE THIS ID NUMBER.
- The rest of the fields can be changed accordingly.
(Note: You must enter a password here. This password will be used to
setup your Gateway file in FirstClass server later)
- Click "Save" and Quit FirstClass Client software.
- Edit Gateway Settings file done.
3. Create Gateway file in FirstClass server.
- Open your FirstClass Client software.
- Login your FirstClass server with the Admin account.
- Open the メGatewaysモ folder on the Admin desktop.

- From your メAdminモ menu, select メAddモ - メGateway Settingsモ.
- A new Gateway Settings file will be created in the メGatewaysモ folder, and you'll be presented with a Gateway Settings window, like the following.

- At the field of メRemote server serial number:モ, type in the following ID number:

(Note: This number is an unique Handy Mail gateway site ID. You are not
allow to use any number other than this one)
- Click on the "Directory" button to bring out a window as the following:

- Close all windows, confirm メSaveモ.
- Rename the Gateway Settings file to メInternetモ.
